Ever get that guilty feeling because you went a few
days without praying, reading your bible, or worshiping Jesus? Has
it been months since you fasted? Yea, me too.
Guess what? You don't need to feel condemned. We all
have times in our life when we are lax in our obedience. But Jesus
isn't going to send some horrible thing to chastise you. No
lightening bolt or simply smack you down with a disease.
He knows something you don't. Like any child in the
process of growing up to maturity, it will happen. Like a good
parent he will keep nudging you to get back to his ways, to follow
his examples, to get back to the place where you feel you should be.
Sometimes as children, I know this from watching my
children, we think we can do it ourselves. We have it all
figured out and don't need anymore guidance. So like normal
children, sometimes as a father he has to stand back and let us try.
But there is something inside of every child that is stronger than
rebellion. It may take a while for it to come out, but it's there,
deep inside. The need to belong, the need to feel worthy of
acknowledgement.
Keep in mind that this is a temporary thing. Don't
let satan use it to get you down though. If you let him he will take
a few days and through guilt, saying "look at you, your just a
failure" turn it into a lifetime of regret. Your Father understands
you so well, he doesn't expect a college scholar at birth. Just a
little one willing to learn and go on even when they fall down on
occasion.
