Are you tired of waiting on God to move on your behalf?

by Toni  Ullom

Pray, pray, pray, wait, wait, wait and nothing seems to change. When asked how the situation is you reply, " My time is not God's time, he'll move when he is ready, I just have to be patient." When Jesus walked on this earth and folks came for prayer did he say, "well now I've prayed for you, just be patient and it will happen." No he didn't, he said it was done, completed, finished. Just as he said with his last words on the cross it is finished. Once something is finished, there is no more to come. No waiting, when you finish your dish's, they completed. You don't have to wait for them to be finished, it's over, the task is FINISHED.

So why doesn't God answer my prayers and instead I have to keep waiting? Well God's part is done, he can't do anymore, it's not him that needs to do more its us. The problem with the flesh of man is we don't want to put our nose to the grind stone and do anything that is uncomfortable to our natural instinct. It's our instinct to want to feed our desires. Including our stomach. Think I'm joking, go one full day with nothing to eat, only water and listen to it moan, groan and pitch a fit all through your body. Our flesh is selfish, mine included. Yes I am just as much a flesh creature as the rest of you. So what can I do to help with this?

Our actions and beliefs put up a wall between us and God's ability to do as he wish's. You may say, well he is God, are you telling me he can't do what he wants when he wants? That is exactly what I am saying. God created us in the beginning to share everything with him, but he also gave us something that none of his other creations had, "a free will". He didn't want a bunch of robots to call him Lord, Lord, because they felt threatened or were programmed to say what he wanted to hear. He gave us free will to choose him or not. To love him or not. What good is love if it has to be taken by force? I've had others try to push me to love them, not in a Godly love, but what they perceived as love and I wasn't comfortable with it. I've even tried it myself on those who I felt should love me but made me feel like the least loved person in their lives.

You can't make a person love you, no matter what type sacrifice you make for them. It has to be a desire within them to give that love that makes it worth having. How do you give them permission to show you love, by allowing them to have a relationship with you. By showing them that they are the most important person in your life. By putting faith in them, letting them know that whatever they do that will affect your whole life, you trust them. They can't do anything without your permission, if you won't allow them the liberty to move on your behalf, their hands are tied. I've seen people I knew I could help if they would just let me, but without their permission, I couldn't do anything.

It's not always God's timing that is holding back our prayer. It's our ability to give him the permission he needs to fulfill that request. Our faith and trust in him plays a role in everything he can do for us. As much as he wants to give you everything he has for you, if you only visit with him enough to call him an acquaintance, not a lover sort to speak, your only giving him the permission to do so much and that is why it takes so long for prayers to get answered.
